Lone Galaxy Found in “Local Void” of Empty Space

The Local Void is a huge stretch of space that is at least 150 million light-years across. It seems completely empty of stars or galaxies. NGC6503, a galaxy which is 18 million light-years away from us, is located on the edge of the strange Local Void devoid of stars.  Astronomer Stephen James O’Meara called it the “Lost-In-Space Galaxy” in his 2007 book, Hidden Treasures.
