You Can Still Die from AIDS, Even When You’re Taking the Meds
Spencer Cox, AIDS activist has died of AIDS-related causes — despite his taking the prescribed meds (“cocktail”) that control the virus.
“His HIV infection was initially responsive to the medications, but he began developing resistance around 2000. He was hospitalized in 2009 with AIDS related symptoms, but eventually returned to health. He entered Columbia Presbyterian on the 13th.” KEEP READING…
THERE’S NO GUARANTEE WITH THE MEDS
Most people don’t realize that not everyone responds to the HIV meds. Some bodies reject the drugs, while others accept it, but never have high T-cell (a.k.a. CD4) counts. You can take the meds for years then all of a sudden your body just stops accepting them — and then the virus takes over, attacking the respiratory system, brain and other areas, weakening the patient until his immune system, whatever is left of it, can’t fight off infection. Having both HIV and AIDS may not be a death sentence for some, but there’s no guarantee of survival. Many factors to consider: age, overall health, promiscuity while infected (a person with AIDS can get a stronger virus from their trick), and blood type.
