Anime Fan? The Classic “Marine Boy” Now on DVD

Cult TVWarner Archives have released the 1969-71 anime series Marine Boy. The story of a young underwater action hero who worked with The World Ocean Control to protect mankind from evil-doers and catastrophes under the sea.  To allow him to do this, Marine Boy chewed a special kind of “oxy-gum” that allowed him to breathe underwater.  Marine Boy also wore jet boots to move fast and employed the use of a boomerang to fight monsters and other weird sci-fi bad guys.  Marine Boy was produced by the same anime people in Japan who brought 1960s TV audiences Astro-Boy, Kimba and Speed Racer (among others).  The first (of three) seasons [78 (25 minute) episodes were made] is now available on DVD from the Warner Archive website.
